Sneffels Fiber Arts Festival Day 1

It was an awesome first day of the festival today.

I peaked in on my friend Pam Schultz from The Fiber Spirit teaching her Yarn Dyeing For Color class. Even though I only saw a few minutes of her presentation I could tell she teaches an awesome class. The ladies looked like they were having a fabulous time mixing and applying just the perfect shade to their yarn.

I met up with a few of the ladies from the Mesa County Fiber Arts Guild. Susan and I joined in on a little needle felting demonstration put on by Monique Mullis of The Felted Dog. We all created some unique felted eggs in about a half hour. Fun!

Then it was off to lunch at the Taco Del Gnar. Not your usual tacos. I had the awesome dinner plate with a Mahi and a Yardbird served with Tots in a queso sauce. Wow did I eat too much but it was yummy.

Then we decided to walk off a little of lunch. We visited a couple artist galleries and strolled along the Poem Alley. The fall colors are amazing. Everywhere you look in this town is another amazing view.

Then it was back to the festival for more shopping. I picked up some silk hankies I have been looking for at the Corn Creek Fiber booth and got some silk cocoons at the Phoenix Fiber Mill booth. I can’t wait to see what kind of texture these add to my next felted project.

After walking around all day I sat down to listen in on a Free Style Weaving demonstration put on by Karen Dietrich of the Phoenix Fiber Mill. I have been trying to stay away from weaving for years but after seeing some of her work I may have to get that table loom I made last year out and see what I can make out of my yarn stash.

Time to get some sleep now I have to get ready for tomorrow. I am teaching Wet Felted Flowers. Can’t wait to share some fun with some of these Colorado fiber friends. If you are in the area come on by. My class starts at noon and there are still openings.
